Now that the children are grown and out of the house – or nearly so – retirement doesn’t seem so distant as it once did. Or you may have already transitioned from full-time work into what has turned out to be an even busier life.

Before I became editor of Renewed and Ready magazine, I had a dream. I dreamed of “giving the gift of writing” to men, women, and children. God had already planted the seeds in them: ideas, ability, and experiences to touch others through their words.


All around me some with hidden talent had lost hope – just given up, or put aside their desire. Others didn’t know where to start – they needed a nudge. I wanted to find them, to give them a “safe place” to tell their stories. Because this desire was so strong, when I became editor of Renewed and Ready magazine I prayed that by the end of the two year trial period we would have more than 200 authors.  We met that goal; and more, with over 250 unique and wonderful authors - and many more waiting in the wings if we would have been able to go on.

Today that dream of finding writers still burns in me – stronger than ever! I search diligently for anyone with talent, with a desire to experience the joy of writing, being printed, or sharing those words buried deep within.

Now, I’m asking you, “Who do you know who should write -- forgetting their fears or misgivings?” Think about it, “Who have you met with a talent for writing? A “wordsmith” perhaps you called them. Maybe you have encouraged them to write before, yet neither of you knew what to do with the piece once it was written.

How many of your friends and acquaintances have had that dream of writing; of having their words read by others come true? Perhaps only a hand full. The rest may have already given up feeling that their dream of putting words to paper would always be just that – a dream.

Friend, encourager . . . find everyone you know with talent, any who always wanted to write (or perhaps don’t even know themselves yet that they have the gift of writing). Bring them a piece of paper with just the exciting address: www.renewedandready.com written on it. Tell them that you’re excited, it’s time that they make their dream (your dream for them) come true.

Perhaps, you had visions from early on to become a writer. It might be your best friend who has come to the conclusion that being published will never happen in their lifetime.  It could be someone you havn't thought of in a while, but suddenly this note caused a conversation between the two of you to leap into your mind. That forgotten day when you were discussing (or this friend/or new acquaintance was lamenting) the lack of opportunity, of magazine space, to get material published these days.
